It is a refined way to solve common problems related to capless gas tank systems including sealing mechanism failure, and potential for freezing during the winter. It utilizes an o-ring that seals the gas cap body to the factory set-up. The gas cap lid also has an o-ring incorporated into it that seals on the gas cap body.
